Spooky owls! WHO?

Our local Sally Ann sometimes has the coolest (and wierdest) stuff. And it’s open late – 9 pm during the week. It works out well for my schedule. Clearly.

Yesterday I found these two glass owls for $4 each (I think. Yup. $4 each). They are actually bottles. Their heads come off!

And sewing and sewing and sewing…

All 3 kitties

I could not bring myself to sew diagonal (or straight) lines through the kitties’ faces, so I opted to do plain old straight stitching all around the outside of the cats. Even though I put a border on this mini-quilt, I’m going to quilt straight lines right into it. Oh yes I am!

The green dumpster

Green dumpster

This is another photo from the 3 hour tour of  a photo walk from Saturday. I’m not sure why I like this photo. There’s garbage in it! I think it’s just the colours – red & green. You don’t see that too often in a dreary old alley way. For some reason, I also like the barbed wire. WEIRD. I like how it looks. I don’t want to decorate our house with it or anything. I just like it. I don’t understand that at all.

ANYWAY, I had the nicest surprise for dinner tonight. I stayed downtown to meet some friends. Mike had the day off and took some photos in Steveston AND picked up some delicious meat at place called, The Hog Shack. That was the tastiest meat I’ve ever eaten. I had some pulled pork with a little sauce. I’m not much for any kind of sauce on meat – BBQ sauce? Blech. Teriyaki sauce? GROSS. Just plain old meat with some salt, pepper and spices? Yes!

I am going to be dreaming about that dinner tonight.

Other things I’ll be dreaming about? Being the instagram photographer at the Oscars. Instead, look at these beautiful portraits by Mark Selinger of well dressed famous people. The portraits are awesome.

Eye level sheep

Yesterday afternoon before the Maria Bamford show, Mike and I wandered around Granville Street and the surrounding areas. After following the drum beats to Holt Renfrew to see the Lion Dancers, we headed a couple of blocks over the Vancouver Art Gallery and found about a billion little sheep covering the grassy area of the VAG (Heh. I know. That’s what the locals call it. VAG. Heh.). Okay, maybe not a billion, but more than 10! I’m good with numbers!

The Lion Dance

February 22, 2015

After work today – Yup. It happens sometimes. We work the occasional weekends – it’s okay. It worked out well because Mike had to work, too. We met up and headed out on a very long photowalk up Granville Street. We were only about half a block into the walk when I heard the loud […]

Happy Year of the Goat or Sheep or Ram*

February 19, 2015

I forgot I had this teensy sheep in my china cabinet. This little guy was picked up many moons ago at a store we used to frequent in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The shop was nick named, “The Waterford Crystal & LEGO Store” because, well, that’s what they sold. Something for everyone! That was a good […]

Happy Chinese New Year Eve

February 18, 2015

Today is Chinese New Year’s Eve. I did as much cleaning as I could muster and took out all the garbages. I think that’s one of the most important things to do. I really should have dusted the TVs because WHOA. Hopefully the Chinese New Year spirits will turn a blind eye to that. Added […]

Spotted! Blossoms!

February 17, 2015

Whoa. I guess this is seriously spring. Unless we experience a severe cold snap, I think spring has sprung for us on the West Coast. First, magnolia blossoms, and some of them are nearly open, way past the bud stage. And…the cherry blossoms aren’t quite as close to opening, but they are getting ready.

Meanwhile, back at Sasquatch Park…

February 16, 2015

DISCLAIMER: This photo was taken yesterday. It was sunny and warm (14 degrees Celsius or so). I am so sorry if you’re reading this from out east. I understand you’ve had “SOME” snow. We’ve also had numerous reports of cherry blossoms around Vancouver. I haven’t seen any. YET. Anyway, yesterday, at the Sasquatch Park – […]

Day trip to Sasquatch Land

February 15, 2015

Mike and I headed out on an adventure today all the way to Harrison, BC. Harrison is about an hour away from us and, apparently, the Sasquatch capital of the world? Perhaps that’s pushing it, but definitely of BC. This is the first I heard of this, but to be fair, I’m not up on […]
