I came upon your site as I was looking on google to find any information pertaining to “grandma’s cookbook”. I have saved a cookbook dated 1950 that belonged to my grandma that I’m considering “recreating” and updating. I too am a “crafty, creative type” and I thought it would be fun to take apart the original edition and put it back together by updating and adding additional recipes and graphics. I’ve contacted the original publisher to see if there any legal issues I have to contend with. If not, I’d like to move forward with this project to remember and honor my granda. Any thoughts, comments, suggestions you’d like to pass on? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. This is a great idea – and the pineapple dish looks delish! Your mom has the right idea, prioritizing the food groups like that!

That is a phenominal idea! I have Sofia Loren’s “Recipies and Memories”. I just love it. Old photos of her at 16 as an aspiring starlett, recent photos of her anchient aunt and uncle, old photos of her mom competing in a Greta Garbo look alike contest all mixed in with shots from movies. Terrific recipies too. I am certain it will be a family keepsake and treasured by all the in-laws and distant relatives. Perhaps recipie book writers will take hold of the sensible idea and put deserts at the beginning!

Mike’s DNA grandma used to make Pineapple Squares too…brings back great memories. Can’t wait to see the completed edition of your Grandma’s Cookbook!! What an awesome project!!
