Apples for miles

This is proof that Mike smiled once during our apple picking excursion. Heh. Okay, more than once. He did smile a lot in the pumpkin patch, though. And once when I asked him if he needed to use the port-o-potty.

For some reason, this one was always vacant.

Meanwhile, we picked apples in record time. I think we picked about 20 lbs in less than half an hour. The trip out there took longer than the picking, but definitely worth it. It was nature’s grocery store. We can thank the Egyptians for cultivating them first – at least according to this apple article.

We found perfect apples with perfect leaves attached.

The pumpkin patch was also looking very abundant. I know it’s only mid-September, but I have been ready for pumpkins for a few weeks now.

It seemed strange to be buying pumpkins when it still felt like summer out there. It was really hot today – and it’s looking good for the rest of the week as well. Yay! No jacket required for another week. YESSS!

I have plenty more photos of our apple adventure, so I’ll share them later on this week. Plus, I’ve got to make some roasted applesauce and maybe some apple butter and, of course, PIE.
