One day I will get a photo of Donner completely in focus. But this one is the best I could come up with.
Last Saturday was Donner’s first week with us. He’s slowly (well, to me, anyway, but I’ve heard other people say that it’s taken months for their kitties to feel comfortable in their homes.) coming out from behind the couch for visits. BUT if you pull the cushion down to find him, he hisses at you! I have to be honest, I felt kind of bad the first time he hissed at me, but that only lasted a short time. Pretty soon, he left his hidey-hole behind the couch and laid down in the dining room. Mike got down on all fours and crawled toward him. Donner not only let him pet him, he started snuggling up to Mike and letting him pet him all on his back. Donner then started to rub his face all over Mike’s face. He turned into the friendliest cat in the world. What the heck? But the second you stand up around him, he runs away. He takes off scared.
I tried this crawling friendly cat routine myself and it worked for me, too. As long as you approach him low down, he’s fine.
He also loves meat – bacon, chicken, beef. If I have that in my hand (and I’m low down) he’ll start meowing at me for it. He gobbles it up. He shares the same dish as Oscar now and sometimes they both eat together – Oscar doesn’t mind having a little brother eat his dinner with him. AWWW. They are buddies. In the early hours of the morning this morning, they knocked over a bag of apples off the counter. What they were doing on counter? I’m not sure, but the dishes are always in the dishwasher now, I can assure you of that.
I guess the best part is that Oscar really has a pal now. Mike spied him licking the top of Donner’s head last night. And they talk to each other all the time. Especially at night – they are night owl hooligans.
Very cute, night owl hooligans.
And in other news…
We found where the rainbow ends:
Yay! Our chimney!
You can find me in the fireplace. That pot of gold has to be in there somewhere.

Congrats ! He’s GORGEOUS !!!
Looks EXACTLY like one of our two… except Barnum has no tuft of white.
Good luck with finding the Gold !!!
Faith & Begorrah !!!
Cheers,

A double rainbow!! Wow…double the money in your pot of gold!! Donner is so handsome like his big brother Oscar! Awe…
Well, I think that after having been a prison cat, Donner is doing very well. There are weird people in jail so he has learned to take his time assessing a human’s character. That is very sensible. lol.
That is lovely to have the rainbow end in your chimney! Good luck finding the pot of gold!
I am a prison cat. *meow* Wanna buy this kitty for a pack of smokes and a choney bar?
Ahh..I just read yesterday that black cats have a very hard time being adopted compared to other colours…so glad to see you have a little black cat
