Meanwhile, back at Quilting Bee last week, Cathy of Blueberry Patch showed us many beautiful items she sewed. She is a prolific quilter and sew-er of all sorts of fabric items. She always has plenty of large, pretty quilts to show us. These are all the quilts she’s finished sewing in 2012! That is in the last 8 months! Incredible. Her blog is FULL of good things. If you like fabric and sewing things, be sure to have a look.

Speaking of prolific quilters, Cynthia has created an incredible art quilt – also known as a quainting – I’m pretty sure she coined that term. She draws, sews, paints, and then hand sews sparkly beads and crystals on her quilts, which are then displayed as wall hangings. This photo does not do it justice, because close up, the details are exquisite.

It’s a crows’ tea party with silver teapots and spoons and sparkly bits. These bad birds have been entered into a contest and the winner of the contest will be announced in October.

After all the show and tell, we had a guest speaker, Sonja of Artisana, give us a presentation about her paper piecing patterns and quilts. I really like this photo, even though you can’t really see her. She’s in the shadows.

I bought her sushi pattern last time I saw her and this night I bought the pattern for Larry, The Creature from the Black Lagoon. She said it was an easy pattern. I may give it a bash after I finish Mike’s quilt, but more than likely, I’ll keep it until I take her workshop in October. I want to paper piece, she assures me I am capable of such a task, and yet, I cannot bring myself to even break open the pattern. Maybe she should create a Cowardly Lion pattern just for me. But I’d be too afraid to try it.

And one more photo from last week’s Quilting Bee – one of the door prize winners! Lysa won the glorious flower arrangement.

Winner Winner! Chicken Dinner!
