Cure for the common cold

Weirdest thing – today around noon, someone knocked on the door. It was a postie! On a stat holiday. Did Canada Post not get the memo that today was a stat holiday for everyone in BC? I’m not complaining. The package he brought was an afghan my grandma knitted for me. HUZZAH! Mom asked me just before Christmas if I’d like one and what colours I’d like it to be. I put in my order, and tada! Magic.

Today was Valentine craft day with the kids at the complex, so I headed out to make Valentine rocks with glitter. I don’t really use glitter, but when I do, I think, “Why don’t I use this more often?”. It’s just. So. Pretty. Maybe that should be my Chinese New Years resolution – use more glitter!

After 20 minutes or so dabbing glue on rocks with the back end of a paintbrush, I got hit with a big wave of headache and sore throat. DRAT. I tapped out – in an effort not to create Valentine Contagion and had to leave the glitter party to come home and make some tea and other hot drinks.

Thanks Grandma!

Looks like it will be an early night for me. We picked up some Benylin and cough drops. And I’ll be snuggling under my new afghan. Also, we bought some Creamsicles. I’m no doctor, but I feel good about that helping a lot.

Oh Carol , don’t get me started! I didn’t get the holiday either, because I am a federal employee and it is a provincial holiday – blaaahhhh! Next Monday, same thing in Ontario … my co-workers in Ottawa will be at work while the rest of Ontario has the day off!
