Donner's guts

I asked the vet to send me Donner’s x-rays so I could show them to my father-in-law. He’s a retired vet. I’m sure he’d be interested seeing them. Then I turned the photos of the intestines and other innards into a blog post. I’m not too sure all that I’m looking at, but the vet did tell me that THIS is his bladder.

There’s other stuff there, too. I especially like the spinal column and the bones in the tail. COOL.

The little guy was definitely perkier tonight than he was this morning when I dropped by to see him. Jeez. He was pretty dopey this AM. I knew he was okay when I stopped by after work and he full-on Halloween hissed at me when I reached in to get him out of his cage. He was pretty scary with his satellite collar on. After he hissed, I said, “Donner. It’s just me!” and then he gave me a little, “Meow”. He didn’t hiss at me again. He was wriggling even though he had an IV in and a catheter. There was some blood on towel he was laying on, but they explained it’s part of flushing out the crystals. EW. What a mess. Hopefully it will go okay once they take the catheter out tonight. If all goes well, he should be, well, going to the bathroom as per usual.

Here’s a photo of hissy pants. Who can blame him? I’d hiss, too.

Donner seems much perkier now. He still has blood in his urine. I guess that's part of the process of the crystals clearing out of his system. The vet said he's doing well, but he still needs a catheter for now. That will remove it later tonight.

With any luck, he’ll be home by the end of the weekend. All three of us miss him. Oscar doesn’t seem too bothered, but he has been looking around for him. But mostly, he’s just sleeping without the worry of Donner bonking him in the head for no reason. Soon, he’ll miss that, too.
