We picked up the little guy this morning bright and early. He’s been very quiet and has finished wandering around the house bonking into the walls for the time being. I’m not sure how he got on the couch, but he founds Mike’s “spot” on the couch and is finally taking a nap. Poor little guy.
He’s got a pain patch on his side that I guess is some kind of time release for pain control. We have to take it off in 3 days. His belly is shaved – you can see his stitches on his belly in the photo above. I think the green bandage was for his IV, and of course, his cone is firmly on his head.
They gave us the “piece” of string that Oscar swallowed. It may be disturbing to some viewers. It certainly was to me when I first saw it. He ate A LOT of string – way more than I expected. Mike’s dad explained that it’s because of the barbs on the cats’ tongues. They HAVE to eat it once it’s on there. There’s no way for them to get it off, it just has to go down.
If you want to see it, it’s after the jump…
I’m glad we took him in when we did. I had no idea there would be that much string. I don’t want to even think about what could have happened if we had waited.
Since Oscar’s a spring chicken (he’s only 1 year and 3 months old), I’m expecting him to get well quickly. He just needs to rest up for now.
