Should be renamed, “VanDreamy Gardens”.

Action shot! A busy bee.

After our newest tradition of eating pancakes every Saturday morning in celebration of Faturday (we stopped eating refined foods on every day but Saturday. It’s the 4 Hour Body if you’re interested in that kinda thing) Mike and I headed into VanDusen Botanical Garden for a photo walk before Mike started work. I’m not an early bird, but I have say that there were not too many people in the garden at 10 am. Definitely worth setting the alarm on a weekend.

The bees were busy and they were plentiful. There were many buzzing around these flowers in the rose garden. I’m not sure what these flowers are called, but they look like dinosaur plants to me.

Pollination

Very prehistoric. It must be all the silver fluff.

Roses were delighful.

The rose garden was in full bloom and smelled great. I know they are finicky, but I would love to grow some of these Rambling Shrub Roses. They smelled the BEST of all the roses in the garden and they were just tiny compared to the fancier versions.

Wood sculpture

In amongst the trees and flowers, there was a sculpture display happening. Big wooden sculptures jutted out here and there.

He just looks like a tourist.

Mike just looks like a tourist in this photo. A tourist from the Netherlands. He’s really into orange these days. Honestly, he’s lost so much weight that the way I have recognized him a couple times recently is by his jacket first. That’s really true!

And THIS is how I’d love for my own garden to look.

All the flowers

All the flowers! Just like this…but with veggies in there, too.

You can see all the photos I took here if you like.
