Sunny days!

Spring is officially here. We had a glorious, sunny day today. No jacket required. Just sunshine, croci and a wood pecker.

At least I think he was a woodpecker, he looked much bigger than the woodpecker we used to always see around our place in Burnaby.

I really had to zoom in a lot on this photo. Actually, he has no red tuft on his head. Maybe this isn’t a woodpecker after all.

Not only was the weather terrific, but Johanna and I headed out to Vancouver for a fabric sale put on by Our Social Fabric. It’s a non-profit organization that sells fabrics that would most likely go to the landfill. Manufacturers donate them and Our Social Fabric sells all these fabrics at a sale once a month. They also sell buttons, zippers, and pillow stuffing.

Johanna and I filled a $25 bag with pieces we found in the bins on the floor. We dug through the boxes and found cute pieces of cotton and corduroy fabric. Just as we were heading over to pay for our stuff, I looked over at the bolts of fabric and found Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton Windsor. For 2 bucks a metre. We bought 10 metres and split it between the two of us. Pretty snazzy! I’m not sure what I’ll do with it yet.

Oh dear.

I sound like a hoarder.

The place does sound like heaven for hoarders! My fabric hoarding has reduced greatly sine our last fabric store closed. 🙁

  2. Johanna says:

That for sure is a woodpecker! I’m fairly sure it’s a female red shafted northern flicker. Girl birds are so boring! I had so much fun today!

  3. Lelainia Lloyd says:

It’s a female Flicker. We have a woodpecker couple that come to our house every spring and drill on it. I spend alot of time scaring them off. When their babies are ready to fly, the teach them in our yard.
