Full disclosure: I’ve never been to Zumba before today and the reason why I am blogging about it is because I had a great time! And that’s the truth.
I actually remembered to bring my gym strip to work today and I joined my coworker for a free Zumba class under The Sails at the Convention Centre. Sadly, we were a bit late, so we only Zumba-ed for about 20 minutes. I must say, that was plenty of Zumba-ing for me because other than the photo walks we go on from time to time, I have not done any organized exercise in a very long time. How long? I’m ashamed to say. HOWEVER, today was a new day! And I bounced and stepped and swooped my arms along with all these people and Luglio Romero – exciting Zumba instructor. He’s also a trained dancer. He glides when he moves.
This class definitely reminded me of my jazzercise (WHOA! It’s still a thing!) days. When we lived in Saudi Arabia, there were many jazzercise classes to attend and it was the 80’s, so I attended those classes with GUSTO! The Doobie Brothers were a popular band to aerobicize to, oh, and Sheena Easton. Her baby took the morning train. He worked from nine to five and THEN!
ANYWAY, this was an updated version of jazzercise. And I’m not sure if it was just me, but there seemed to be a lot more facial expressions, mostly hammy and super smiley (by me!). I couldn’t help myself. It was like a workout for my face, too.
Seriously, there should be Zumba in the ‘hood.
