Oof. I stayed home today with a nasty sore throat and stupid throbby headache. I have been drinking gallooons of tea and will soon have some zupe for dinner. I feel like I’m missing out staying home. There’s so much going on these days with the Olympix, I can’t bare to miss a thing. I’ve got packages to mail out tomorrow and there’s a Canada Pavilion on Hastings Street that’s free to visit for this week only! I have to get back to work tomorrow. I just have to!
On the plus side, I did have some time today to try out some different ways to change and enhance my lantern photos I took yesterday in Chinatown. Usually I don’t like the high contrast look, but I think it worked out nicely for these photos.
This photo wasn’t taken in the lantern room, but in another room where they had a shrine set up decorated with red cyclamen. It’s very tidy.

More lanterns below…
All the lanterns in the lantern room are delicate and have soft pastel colours. I’m not sure if they are old ones, or if they will add more colourful ones and big red ones like the type I’m used to seeing.

Sorry you are sick Carol, and your lanterns are beautiful.
feel better soon … being sick is no fun at all.
Gorgeous shots! I love the big pink one!
And I hope you’re feeling better and can get back to work and photos!
Oh, I am so sorry you were sick. I so hope you are well today and can check out that Canada Pavillion. That sounds just Right for you.
I think some of those lanterns are old. The one looks like it got wet and the dye all came out. They are so beautiful. They look like they may be hand painted and silk. This has done nothing to reduce my lantern lust. Very very nice.
I’m so sorry you’re feeling under the weather! I love all these shots, though. They’re gorgeous.
