Due to a certain unforeseen situation, we’re doing Christmas a little differently this year. And by different, I mean no Christmas presents for anybody. Everyone’s off the hook this year. The best thing about that decision? We had a very good response by our family.
The weird thing is, I never doubted that decision the second we made it. I knew it was the right thing to do under the circumstances. And I love Christmas! It didn’t hit me until today when I walked through the mall after work, saw all the signs in the stores and people with shopping bags I suddenly realized, “Wow. I don’t have to do that this year.”
This year we’ll be celebrating in a new way. I have no idea what we’ll do instead, but I’m sure we’ll start a new tradition for ourselves. But things that will stay the same this year on my end will be:
- The Advent Calendar (beginning December 1st)
- The Annual Browne Christmas Card
This year will be a Christmas adventure of a different kind. And thankfully, it will include Oscar.

Two things….I think that it is an awesome idea! I think Christmas should be about the parts that we enjoy and shouldn’t have to revolve around spending tons of money on gifts. I’d rather give gifts randomly through the year. Secondly, when that picture started to load and it said “A Little Different” in the title…I thought you went blond!! hahahaha
Ok third, the Advent Calendar is what makes my Christmas. I could leave everything else. :o)
