Tonight was the lovely PaperGirl Vancouver party. The PaperGirl “movement” – I think that’s what you call it – is art philanthropy! People donate pieces of art and they are then displayed at the Yaletown Roundhouse community centre until Friday. Then on Saturday, people on bikes meet in a secret location and hand out the art pieces to strangers in the area. Lovely, right? I’d say so. What a nice surprise to get someone’s cool drawing or photo, or embroidered doily. Like these bananas:
or this leaf Penelope created with words that tell as story.
Or these amazing drawings of a dog.
The crowd clearly enjoyed the display.
And…I got a birthday present. I know! I have been milking this birthday for nearly a month. In fact, someone asked me the other day, “When WAS your birthday, anyway?”. Heh. I didn’t even know that’s how I rolled.
Lelainia wrapped my present in a beautiful map of Illinois.
And inside? A cute little journal for me to write notes and paste tiny treasures inside. She made this book. Beautiful, right?
I’m going to take it with me in my purse and fill it up with nifty little things.
So, if you’d like some art, I sure hope you’re in the secret area on Saturday.
Maybe you’ll get this one:
Yah. I made that one with the red angel wings. I love making those little tags. Here are a few more photos if you like that sort of thing on flickr.
