It’s in the details

Looking for ways to beat the crowds? Here’s how we did just that today.

Somehow we got ourselves to leave the house and went out a little photo jaunt to the Burnaby Village Museum. There was a fall fair event and entrance was free, so we headed over there at the crack of 2:30 pm. If we had waited just 10 minutes longer, we would have scored a parking spot much closer. We toured around a bit – Mike recorded the calliope in the carousel building…it was very busy in there, so we toured around the grounds instead. It was a bit busy, but definitely slowing down, people were on their way out as we got there.

I didn’t get any photos I liked of the event, just photos of the details in the village – like this oldie time globe in the little school house.

And this Good Cheer detail on the wood-burning stove in the Chinese Apothecary, along with these cool old bottles of some kind of herbal remedies.

Something tells me this tastes terrible – probably bitter, too.

Even though it was a bit chilly out there, there were some summer flowers not leaving without a fight.

After all the gallivanting, we headed out for dinner close to 4 pm. We got to the pizza parlour around 4:15 and had dinner by 4:30. There was ONE other person in the restaurant. Having the Early Bird Special has it’s perks. And then we went to a 5:15 movie – in the VIP room where there were NO OTHER people. I find it hard to believe that no one wanted to see a Will Farrell movie at 5:10 on a Monday afternoon!

What gives?

And THAT is how you beat the crowds.
