“Santa! Oh, my, God! Santa, here? I know him! I know him!”*

We kinda had to take a break from packing because we ran out of boxes. What? I know! I guess we have more things than we thought we did. I was sure we’d be done by now and that we had enough boxes. This could explain why I have never won one of those jellybean counting contests. But I probably could come close to winning if I took some time to follow the formula. I will keep that in mind for next time. Oof? Next time? What am I saying? I don’t think there will be a jellybean counting contest in my future any time soon.

Anyway, we stopped by the good old Abysmall today to grab some supplies and found Santa already meeting and greeting the kids. I have to say, he was an excellent Santa – he had a lovely real beard (how does he get it so white like that?), a nice, soft, round face, and quite a dapper Santa costume. There was a short line-up of well-dressed children waiting their turns. Very cute. And very smart. Those kids are thinking ahead. And if there’s anything I’ve learned from working at a school, it’s getting things done ahead of time because you really don’t want to get caught falling behind. Playing catch up is super stressful. If Santa is here now, get your order in.

Speaking of being ahead of time, I think it’s a good sign that I noticed we don’t have enough boxes for our stuff on November 18th as opposed to November 29th, like my usual, chaotic moving self. Other good news? Mike’s got all the heavy lifting taken care of. Looks like I’ll be leaving from our old place on November 30th, going to work, and then taking the skytrain to the new place with all our stuff already there. How I swung that, I’ll never know. But I’ll roll with it.

Thanks Santa!
