Yet another day with another lunch time adventure! I had heard on twitter this morning the Huskies would be down in Yaletown at the RoundHouse for a little while at lunch. At 11:45, I left the office and hopped 1 stop to the RoundHouse. I got off the train, went over to the spot. No dogs. Oh no! I had missed the dogs and today is their last day in Vancouver.
But just to be sure, I texted my pin pal, Ariane, to see if she knew where they were. JACKPOT! She called me right away to let me know the dogs were down at the SeaWall on Davie – only 2 blocks away or so. I found that kind of odd. I thought I would be able to those dogs barking and yapping and being noisy. Don’t those dogs just bark and bark and yap until they’re all running?
A couple of minutes later, and behold! The huskies and one of their owners, Olav Falsnes, hanging out by the marina all decked out in their Northern best outfits.

Olav was wearing his parka and fancy winter boots and it was very warm today. Poor guy. I’m sure it was pretty hot in his Arctic wear. He was being interviewed by a local news station and was happy to take questions while waiting for the camera people to get set up. I just started taking puppy photos and didn’t really talk to them. But I petted and talked to their dogs. They were all very friendly. And quiet. I didn’t hear a peep from any of them.
Here’s the youngest husky of the pack. He’s 4 &1/2 months old.
The other owner of the dogs arrived in her winter gear and started getting ready for the interview.
Judi Falsnes hugged her dogs in close and they licked her face and snuggled up.
And here they are after the interview posing for photos.
Tomorrow they head back to their home 2 hours away from Inuvik, in the Northern Territories, wayyyyyyyy up north. It took them 4 days to drive down here with 5 dogs. This couple runs an adventure tourism company called Arctic Chalet featuring tours with their sled dogs. Let’s go, shall we?
I’m so glad for Canada’s Northern House for letting us all know about the huskies. This was a great lunch time adventure.
Plenty more dog photos here if you enjoy that sort of thing.

Wow, how cool!! I’ll meet you in July when it hits 100 degrees here and let’s go on an arctic adventure together! Mike and Oscar can batch it while you’re away, living on pizzas and catnip ~ I really like the one with the woman holding the dogs close and their look up to her – pure love. Your pix are wonderful!
