Way back on February 18th, I took the morning off from work to stand in line to see the Olympic medals. Looking back, it was a good call by me as I only had to wait 2 hours in line to see them. The next few days and weeks the line up would grow and grow and grow with people waiting 7 or 8 hours to see them. Inside The Mint Pavilion, they had both sets of medals on display. I saved the Paralympic photos for this week. I can’t believe the games will be officially over tomorrow evening.
Here is a demonstration of how this silver medal was created.
The other medals displayed below.

Braille was put on the back of each Paralympic medal and they are more square shaped then the Olympic medals.
Here’s the gold Paralympic medal.
Beautiful.
The only photo I have of a winning medalist Paralympic team is this shot of the Japanese Sledge Hockey Team. They won the Silver Medal and the US won the Gold today.
The Japanese Team watched the Norway VS. Italy game from the side lines last week. Mike pointed them out to me – and soon after, the Swedish Team watched their competition for a bit before getting ready for their game.

I saw a little documentary about the artists and the way the medals were made…it was amazing…what was really cool was I have earrings made by the native artist and didn’t know she was the medal designer until I saw the show
