Get your cameras ready!
I found a few challenges while taking photos of the models. I really like taking portraits, but a fashion show the focus is really about the clothing, so, I had to pull away from the models’ faces and remember to get as much of the clothes in the photo as possible.

I had to move around a bit and jockey for a position,

and quickly decided to leave the area with all the photographers and took a position off to the side. Somehow, I found a spot quite close to the area where the models stopped for a moment. Happily, I got a few shots where the model looked right at the camera. Like this!

And this!

AND THIS!

There is something very exciting about making eye contact through the camera like this. I got the same sensation as I remember feeling when I would get that first bite on my fishing rod when we used to go fishing as a kid. It’s a jolt of excitement. Fleeting…but still, in the moment, very exhilarating.
Also, that shirt with the boxer on it is Fred’s shirt.
I also had to resist the urge (at first I didn’t realize that I was even doing it) to smile at the model after I took his photo. Duh. Tyra Banks would be so disappointed in my lack of fashion show etiquette. He doesn’t need my approval or thanks. Dude’s smyzing right now. Sheesh.
But after the show, I realized, male models are pretty much regular guys.

I did say thank you to them after I took this photo.
And the blonde guy gave me a head nod.
See? Regular guys!
I’ve added a few more Men’s Fashion Week photos here.

Quite the serious looking bunch. The guy who acknowledged with a hand gesture—was that a “thumbs up” or a gun??
