“Works of Art”

“Are you okay, pumpkin?”

“No. I’m sad”

Why is this pumpkin so sad?

a) It’s rainy and cold out
b) He was called a “work of art” in quotes
c) It’s 9 am on a rainy Sunday morning in the innercity. Of course he’s sad.

I saw a great big jack-o-lantern display on one of my trips home after dropping Mike off at work. I’ll be honest, it’s not in the best part of town, so I was leery – nope – totally afraid to stop and take these photos. I decided to do it this morning, stayed close to the car, and hoped for the best. I shot these quickly.

Turns out this is the result of a lot of hard work by some nearby school kids. So, if kids go to school nearby, why am I afraid to be out in my pajamas taking photos on a Sunday morning? Thankfully there was a message for me among the pumpkins.

Here are more works of art – please note: I think they really are works of art, so I won’t put that in quotes. Yes. I’m being petty about quotation marks.

So. Spooky!

Look! I think jack-o-lantern is mimicking the fountain above him.

Here’s one more reason why I was nervous around this display done by the Strathcona and Admiral Seymour Elementary school kids – right next door to their display?

The Grim Reaper above the chapel.

RUN!
