A blast from the past!

My mom sent me this picture in order to test her new scanner. She’s scanning a bunch of her old photos because some of them are fading. And this is how this picture was resurrected from the archives! My age? 20…it was Christmas 1990. I’m wearing the blue tucked-in shirt (who tucks now? Not me!)Yes, I am wearing eyeliner and yes, we were entertaining the troops. My sister is next to me in the pink shirt. My dad’s in the blue shirt behind me. Mom must have taken this picture.

My family was living in Saudi Arabia and this was just before the first Gulf War started in January 1991. These were Army guys. I don’t remember any of their names. All I remember was the tall guy in the back was a paratrooper and he strapped some kind of cannon to his leg for his jumps. Yikes. Also, see the guy in the back? The blonde guy? He was VERY happy to have a little sip of some nasty moonshine and was hoping for more, but my Dad cut him off. It was totally against the rules to be serving the guys anything like that. And no, I didn’t partake in that…well, not at this party, anyway. Having your parents at the party really cramps your style!
