This afternoon I *thought* I read a tweet that said the old Woodwards W was back on the building. Sadly, I didn’t actually read the message completely. Yes. That is correct. I didn’t finish reading 140 characters. Jeez. I just got very excited at the thought of the “W” and grabbed my camera and headed over to Hastings & Carrall Street.
What actually had been erected was a great big stand for the big “W”, but no letter up there – just the big Eiffel Tower stand getting ready to hold the great big consonant in the near future. (Please note: a fellow watcher of the construction pointed out the likeness to the stand the Eiffel Tower. I’m sad to say I didn’t come up with that description.)
I took photos of the big stand and couldn’t stop thinking about what it would look like when it was all finished. Here is what I imagined:
I couldn’t help but imagine an old-fashioned, noisy, neon sign, buzzing and snapping and all the people who live in the condos around the place yelling off their balconies.
Once the real Woodwards W is up, I’ll post the real version compared to my version. And I’ll let you know if I hear any yelling out the windows.
