On Thursday night we had a sushi-making party as a send off for a co-worker that recently left the office. I was totally opposed to this idea because I was sure it was a sushi-making party diguised as ANOTHER potluck so I poopooed the idea from the start. As well, I thought it was going to be way too hard and that I would be a complete sushi-making failure. However, I wanted to be a good sport, do the “after work thing” and well, not have to make dinner at home, so I went. But you know what?
I TOTALLY HAD FUN! AND I MADE AWESOME SUSHI! Check it:

<p>It was very easy and I could make this again at home. I took a sushi mat home with me. I just took it. Just put it in my bag on my way out so I could make some at home. It was easy to roll and when sliced up it looked just divine. I would venture to say that even my sister would eat this sushi. Cathy has won The Fussy Eater Award in the past and completely turned her nose up at the sushi we brought home one night when she was here visiting. But my sushi had cooked chicken, a bit of mayo, cucumbers and cooked yams, the sticky rice and the seaweed on the outside. It was delicious. And nutritious. Seaweed is good for you.</p>
<p>I also thought that this sushi mat would be great to make rolled cookies with. I thought about making some kind of spiral white and red cookie log and slicing it like sushi and then baking it up. The slices would be perfect cookie size and it would be perfectly round.</p>
<p>I’ll make sushi cookies for Christmas! I can hear Cathy putting her order in now.</p>

Wow, just in time to sell our fabulous Sushi making kits at Brentwood. You will sell them all I am sure. I so wish we could demonstrate there, then you could really show off.

Making sushi IS fun. When Sara & Kevin lived in the basement, they had us down for a "lesson" (Sara had just learned how) and we were supposed to just make and eat appys. We ended up so stuffed we didn’t feel like supper. It was great!
Having recently acquired an insatiable appetite for Sushi, I want to learn how to make it.

Hey Jo – that’s exactly how we were at the party. We were stuffed after just 1 roll. It’s delish. I really wish we could do a demo for Kitchen Stock because now that I know how to use the kit, we could totally show it off.
