Sewing Saturday

in General, Sewing

The only thing I had on my schedule today was sewing. Yay! I finished Larry the Creature:

He only took me a couple of hours this afternoon to whip him up. I love paper piecing so much, I can’t wait to make the next piece. I’m not sure what it will be, but it will be great. Probably something Christmas themed. Maybe stars or Christmas trees. I’ll keep you posted.

After finishing that block where you had to be carefully measure things, I decided to do something wonky for a bit and use Cynthia’s Robert Kauffman fabric called Pacific to make a Barb Mortell, wonky-on-purpose style quilt top.

I didn’t use the rotary cutter for this – just scissors to cut the fabric into strips. Right now it’s about the size of a baby quilt, but I think I have enough fabric to make a nice, snuggly, quilt you would wrap yourself up in on the couch. Bigger than a lap quilt. I think I’ll just keep sewing until I run out of fabric.

Sadly, we were only supposed to use KONA (it’s a brand name) solids for this quilting challenge, but, I used a different brand because the colour was too perfect and because I already had a lot of this blue colour on hand. I guess this disqualifies me from officially entering the contest (I think it was a contest? I’m not sure.) but I think the quilt will be lovely anyway.

I can’t wait to see how big it’s going to get. Huge, I hope!
