Kelaine tipped me off to the Finders Keepers Project at Granville Island by Jasna Sokolovic. Please note: Kelaine lives in Alberta, so I love that she hears about this stuff and I’m relying on her for info in the city where I live. Seriously, Kelaine’s got the inside scoop on the art sitch (short for situation) in Vancouver.
Last night I headed over to Granville Island after work on the little Aquabus and started hunting high and low for a ceramic heart. I touched surface after surface trying to determine if it was metal or wood. I looked outside and inside…I came back in after about 20 minutes of looking outside, thinking to myself, “I wonder how many I walked passed and didn’t even notice?” I walked by a fruit stand and right by the Siegel’s Bagels stand, on a metal beam I spotted one! I had to reach up on my tip toes to grab it, but I found one! Huzzah!
Rather than take a photo right there, I took the heart up to my favourite spot in the food fair area, put it on a metal railing and took it’s photo with some heart bokeh:
I enjoyed the rest of my evening at the Island with my heart in my pocket and headed over to Yaletown for Illuminate.
Mike’s response to my excited, “I found a heart and Granville Island!” was, “Are you sure it’s part of that project? You didn’t just take something off the wall, did you?”
I assured him I didn’t, that there was the artist’s website stamped on the back, so it’s okay, I didn’t unknowingly shoplift the ceramic heart.
The ceramic heart now lives on the fridge, but not for long. I’m going to send it to someone. I’ll show you later.
Thank you Jasna! I love my red ceramic heart.
