Or at least I sure hope so. Today’s photo expedition took me to the blue tear drop over at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Hopefully, the photos I took with the toy camera work out somehow. I used the fisheye lens and thought this bulbous sculpture would look pretty cool with the round distortion. We shall soon find out. The only problem when shooting with film is the wait. That’s usually not a problem, but it is when you see naked people on Georgia Street in Vancouver. Yup. Today at lunch, there were two nearly naked girls – just wearing g-strings – with words to describe cuts of meat written on their bodies. For example “soup bone” was written on one girl’s leg and “sirloin” on the other girl’s back. Just picture this chart found in the butcher shop transposed on the girls’ bodies. Either they were making a point about not eating animals OR they were promoting cannibalism. It could be confusing without any context. Either way, I had to take a photo, so I took it with the fisheye lens. The photos will be all crazy if they do turn out. Fingers crossed.
I felt it tacky to take out a second camera to take photos of topless girls in the street, so I didn’t haul out my digital camera. Besides, I only had my wide angle lens with me, and you really have to stand close to the subject to catch the details. Let’s just hope for the best with my tasteful fisheye nudes. If that’s possible. You’ll know as soon as I know!

It IS a PETA campaign. That sleezy Pamela Anderson started it will billboard ads. It’s kinda caught on, I guess. Geez.
When I was young and naive I saw a copy of Playboy with a naked woman with cuts of meat drawn on her with a grease pencil. It had a totally different connotation, I can tell you that. It would have been about the time ‘The Edible Woman” was published. I suspect the pumpkins with their G-strings on Georgea would evoke the Playboy version more than the PETA version for many.

I am sooo looking forward to seeing the nudie shots. In fact, it’s making me feel a little creeped out that I event want to see them! It sounds hilarious though!
