Eight out of twelve ain’t bad

Way back on December 12th, Mike and I spent 12 hours taking photos around Vancouver with our little toy cameras along with 58 other photographers. Man. That seems like a long time ago now. We drank lots of coffee and I snoozed on the Blenz stuffed chairs in between the announcements of the next theme for the next photo. What a day that was. Exhausting. But you know what? I forgot all about that when I saw my photos on display tonight. EEP! It was so exciting! Somehow I managed to get 8 out of the 12 shots and they were not bad at all. In fact there were 2 that I really liked. YAY! I believe all the photos will be on display on flickr in the near future. I’ll let you know when they are up in case you want to see them. All the photos were great with all the different interpretations of each theme and it was good to see those now well-rested and warmed-up photographers again.

I don’t mean to brag, but these people were looking at my photos:

SQUEE! Sorry about that. I just got excited when I saw them looking at my photos and not pointing and laughing OR hissing “BOO!” at them.

On a sad note, Mike’s entire roll of film was kaput. The whole roll was unprintable. Oof. That hurts. This also happened to two other photographers as well – a huge downside of shooting with film. The volunteers put them up anyway, to show their effort. Unfortunately it earned the name “the wall of shame”. Here’s Mike’s roll. He was sad about it, but a good sport.

The volunteers who put together this event – I can’t thank them enough! It has been a whole pile of work for them to get this all together, plus prizes and big prints for the winners and getting the venue and the list goes on and on.

And now I want to get some more film for the toy cameras and do some more film shooting. My BananaCam took some nice wide angle shots and now that I’ve seen the results, I think I know when and how to use it better. Also, the colours turned out nicely. The BananaCam is definitely an outdoor-on-a-sunny-day kind of camera.

of course they weren’t pointing and laughing, silly girl … you’re awesome. i think that project is such a cool idea … i follow a couple of professional photographers (and a dozen no-so-pros like me!) on twitter … i think i might send them the link and see if we can do something like it in halifax in december. :)

Congratulations on your photos turning out!

I bet Mike’s were actually too awesome for the exhibit but the volunteers couldn’t handle the awesomeness.

This is fantastic Carol. Is the display up in a gallery? Sorry about Mikes, but I think it is great that they still displayed his film.

THAT is WAY COOL. yer gonna tell us where we can go look?
I know they had trouble getting the 60 rolls of film. Did three people get bad film? That is dissapointing to have a roll not turn out. It cost to develop the roll, whether there were photos or not. At least you didn’t have to pay to get ‘non-pictures’ printed. Good for Mike for being a good sport.
