This is one of my all time favourite portraits I have ever taken. She is adorable. And I’m so glad she looked right at me.
Thanks to my co-worker, also named Mike, we got a parking spot about 3 blocks away from the parade route. We got there about half an hour before it started, picked out our spot on the sidewalk and got the cameras ready. This was the first time I’d been to the parade, so I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect…men in leather? Men in underpants? Drag Queens? I was not disappointed. In fact, this parade had all that and more!
There were beauty queens:
Awesome street signs on a float:
We should all live in neighbourhoods with street signs that say End of Hate Street! And City Pride Place! And Violence NO WAY!
Speaking of floats, there was no shortage of floats – floats with balloons and bubbles and music. My favourite floats included music. It just made it easier for all the people on the floats to keep their energy up – except for the women on the motorcycles. They didn’t need music for that. Or floats. They were pretty great, actually.
There were adorable fairies – some even had wings!
As the parade progressed, the crowd got bigger and bigger…
I have so many photos from the day, I think I’ll have to spread them out over the next few days. Parade week? Looks like I’ve got a theme this week! Also, it really only seems fair to have a whole post dedicated to guys in their underpants – including GLADIATORS! WEWT! It was the parade that just kept on giving!
I’ll post those photos very soon!
