Ice Ice Baby…

After work, I headed over to fancy pants Yaletown for the Illuminate festival. They have light art around the neighbourhood. I was a slacker today and only found the ice sculptures – there are other art pieces, but I didn’t bring an umbrella and it was a little rainy. Also, I had the Friday night sleepies, so my visit was short and sweet.

These ice sculptures were right behind the Yaletown Skytrain Station.

There were 5 or 6 tall ice sculptures lit up with rotating colours…I think it was lit underneath. People were loving them – people posed in front of them, little kids touched them and I even saw a little kid licking one when he thought no one was looking.

I don’t know how the sculptors got their pieces so smooth. And sharp. They are really good at what they do.

I think they’ll be there for the whole weekend…unless they melt away. Maybe they’ve got some back-ups for tomorrow? I’m glad I got to see these pretty icy lamps tonight.
