Skater girl

Guess where I was tonight? Another fashion show. I know! I’m a regular now at these fancy events. And speaking of fancy events, I was invited to got to a gala in a couple of weeks. A fashion gala. And I’ll be taking photos. How exciting is that? Pretty cool. Imagine all the Blue Steel I’ll be seeing at that event. SO MUCH!

But that’s later. Tonight, I went to Fashion’s Night Out Vancouver – I think this was the first year they did this in Vancouver, but they started it in New York in 2008 or 2009 with the following mission – Fashion’s Night Out was created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industry’s economy. An event created due to the recession. It seems weird to know that you were in a recession. I definitely remember one of my economic teachers saying, “You don’t know when you’re in a recession until after it’s over”. Clearly this class was before the internet and before I was working on a very long contract helping people who were laid off get back to work.

Anyway (again! I’m full of tangents!) the event tonight was at the CBC Building and was very well attended. I guess there was shopping after in the shops nearby, but I went home. I was too tired from schmoozing with a bikini swimsuit designer and seeing Peter Breeze‘s new video that started the DW collection. It was a lovely event.

On my way to get the bus home, I spotted this skater girl.

I like her Bob Marley skateboard. And I think her board counts as a long board – I’ve seen a few of the students at school use them. And, as I found out, long boards are banned in some parts of the North Shore. I guess some skaters were not skating with due care and attention in those hilly roads.

But I’m sure this skater girl puts safety first.

Tomorrow I have another event to attend – the etsy craft party. I cannot wait!

Thanks to City Chase last year, I have ridden a long board. In fact I wiped out, wrecked my knee and then ran all over Vancouver on it. I ended up in the ER the next morning. No more long boards for this girl!
