At the Shaw Christmas Party

The Shaw Christmas Party was very, very fancy. I have never seen anything like it. I would have to say it was as fancy as a Saudi prince’s first wedding. The Vancouver Convention Centre was all decked out for 2400 people. It was set up beautifully, like a gigantic wedding reception – we had place cards and centerpieces and a Christmas ball for every guest. Mike didn’t believe me when I told him the balls were gifts to take home for every guest. It’s as though he has never seen a single episode of Martha Stewart Living!

I took some photos at the party and you can see them here if you’d like to see what the biggest Christmas party in Vancouver looked like. I think they set some kind of record.

The food was delish and the door prizes where handed out by the local news anchors. Sadly, we didn’t win anything. Oh darn! But the dessert buffet made up for it. Fresh raspberry tarts? Yes please!

*PLEASE NOTE: THIS POST IS EXTREMELY IMAGE HEAVY. SORRY FOR THE SLOWNESS*

Frank and Lisa looked at me with excited expectation.

Frank: SO!!! How do you like it?

Lisa: Tell us! Tell us!

Carol: Oh my gosh…the gingerbread is perfect. I love it! *nom* *nom* *nom* Yum. Now I’ll bite into the stained glass part.

Lisa: I can’t wait to hear what she thinks!

Frank looked at me eagerly.

Carol: Uh…oh…um…I’m not sure how to say this…

Frank: What is it?

1) They had me at flickr pins. And then they pulled out some Olympic pins. WHAAAAAAAAAAT?
2) They gave us food and beverages
3) Did I mention the Olympic pins?
4) Then a member of the IOC came to tell us the following (please note, this is my summary. Not a direct quote):

I guess we weren’t clear. We’ve talked to our lawyers. You guys can post all the photos you want of the Olympic games – even at events or anywhere else – as long as you’re not selling them for money, it’s cool with us. SHARE YOUR OLYMPIC PHOTOS!

Best. Flickr. Party. Ever.

I didn’t see that coming at all. Then we ate free crab macaroni, lobster wings and prime rib!

It was a glorious night. And I met Kimli.

Just a couple more photos from last night here.
