Andrea

We didn’t hang out with Andrea today – she had to work. Imagine…being on a business trip and having to do work. Incredible. But we did do a little clean up of the house because I think we’ll be hanging out tomorrow evening. You know what that means? A clean bathroom and all the laundry will be put away! Hooray! The Brownes do it up right – for most visitors, anyway. Sadly, the yard was unsalvageable in this weather, so we will have to subject her to all sorts of overgrown crabgrass, dandelions and ferns.

I didn’t do too much today except daydream about the Stanley Cup Parade. I would imagine it would either go right down Georgia street from Stanley Park down to Rogers Arena OR it will go right down Granville Street. It will be glorious and I can only imagine waving at Burrows and Luongo with his shiny, slick hair. Also, I’ll have to make sure my camera batteries are all charged up. Will there be confetti? Will it be a ticker tape parade? Oh, I hope so!

I also went to get some more acupuncture today. In addition to the needles, I had the cups pressed on my back. I’m not sure what they do, but Dr. Yu lit a match, quickly warmed up the edges and then stuck it on my back. The jars create a vacuum and just stuck to my back. He left them there for 10 minutes and then POP! pulled them off. I’ve got the round bruises to prove it.

My pinched nerve is healing up nicely. My foot is still a bit numb (apparently this is common) so I feel like I’m wearing a clown shoe on my right foot. That’s normal.

We were at the beach…

When we took Andrea to the beach the day before yesterday, we found a solitary starfish out in the tide line. Luckily, the tide was quite far out at Barnet Marine Park and not only did we see this starfish, but we also found a car tire. No low tidal pool in any movie I’ve seen is complete without the big rubber tire, so I felt we had really brought her to a legitimate beach.

My cousin loves all animals. She has a degree in agriculture and has fostered many kitties and a few dogs through her local SPCA. In fact, she checked in with them while she was here to make sure all went well with the “kitten grab”. Wait. That’s a good thing. Let me explain. The local animal shelter takes care of 2 feral cat colonies, so when they have kittens, they go out, make sure the kittens are okay and make sure the adults are then spayed and neutered. See? She love animals.

Upon finding this starfish, we all stood around it and wondered out loud what would become of him. Mike and C@thy wondered how long it would it would take him to walk back to the water or if a seagull would find him and eat him up. Andrea volunteered to put the solitary sea star and put him back in the sea. She promptly picked him up and gently tossed him in the water to safety.

Feeling heroic, we continued to walk along the beach until we found this:

Welcome Princesses!

Good thing we didn’t bother going to the trouble to make any signs. C@thy and Andrea created their own signs for us out of barf bags and some felt pens. I know! Genius! And I’ll scan them in so you can all see their hard work later. I luckily came across some princess sashes and some of the worst plastic flowers (I thought they were all bad. However, these ones are exceptionally bad.) I have ever come across for presentation to our lovely houseguests.

As you can see, Mike allowed me to take photos of him in said awful garb. He is a very good sport.

We are soon heading out to Burnaby Mountain and to Barnet Marine Park as the weather is beautiful. We spent the morning watching Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and Inglourious Basterds. Do we know how to entertain or what?
