Buddies for ages

Last night I took my boiled oranges cake to my buddy, Wheezy’s, place in Yaletown and enjoyed a good old-fashioned potluck. Not one of us brought salad or veggies, so my cake served as a serving of fruit for the meal.

We enjoyed delicious scalloped potatoes – Wheezy does them up right, some Chinese food, pot stickers and ham.

Cake review: Very marmalade-y, very rich & dense, very moist (ew. That’s an awful word). However, I did spread a thick coating of Nutella on the top and that cut that bitter, orange peel taste down to a manageable level. Also, a little goes a long way – you only need a little piece and it’s very filling.

Downtown

One good thing about the sunrise happening late in the morning is that I’m actually awake to see it happening. I could not believe it when I got off the bus this morning. It wasn’t raining. I could see the sun. It was mostly dry and warm. The buildings were sparkling and everything. I stopped and took photos before I went to work.

Quilting Bee was a smashing success tonight. We had Berene from happysewlucky come speak to our group tonight! She create cute little stuffies and adorable Christmas ornaments and happy skulls for Halloween. She brought her son, Noah, he’s about 12, I’d say, and he designs fabric, too.

As per usual for Thursday night after Quilting Bee, I am SPENT. It was a glorious evening. I have many photos to post. And tomorrow I’m on card making duty, so I’m excited to get that done and done. The craft fair starts tomorrow night.

Lorne turned 49 years young today. Huzzah! We celebrated with sushi at Sushitown and then with cupcakes and tea at our place, afterward. It was a lovely time. Yup. We really partied hard tonight – with chamomile tea and everything.

How could I resist?

October 21, 2011

I bought this cereal while grocery shopping this afternoon in Yaletown on my lunch hour. I have seen this brand online, but never in person. How could you not buy something called Holy Crap? I love the name! I’ll let you know how what it’s like after I’ve had a taste. Other updates: Looks like [...]

Picnic at the Park

August 7, 2011

Today we had a little picnic for the birthday girls in Mission. We had excellent summer weather again, and this big tree provided a perfect shady, breezy spot for us. After today’s outing in the sun, I’ve decided to have more picnics. I’ll somehow convince Mike to have come with me. Picnics CAN be fun [...]

Light leak

July 9, 2011

This is my favourite photo out of the batch of film photos I took a few weeks ago. Actually, it could have been longer ago than that…I took this at a park in Langley that day I went on a photoshoot with Wes Wiens. It looks like it’s a sunset photo, but what really happened [...]

Puppet in the park

June 5, 2011

I got up this morning and dropped Mike off to work for his 7:00 start. In the morning. Oi. That’s early. But I was on a mission to get to Langley for the Bonsai Show – baby trees! Our friend, Wes, told me about it and I had to go. Since I was there so [...]
