…As soft and gentle as a sigh…Love is like a butterfly, a rare and gentle thing…

Wait. Why do I know the words to a Dolly Parton song?
Anyway, the pink peeg down the street is all dressed up for the big day. Happy Halloween everyone! I hope you have as much fun as a pig in a butterfly suit.

After I took Mike into work, we got dressed up in our rain gear (AKA umbrellas) and headed over to the Burnaby Heritage Museum for the Farmers’ Market.
It was pouring rain. I felt bad for those poor vendors. But we soldiered on and bought organic cherries, tomatoes, carrots and bread from the Bread-Mobile. I love that name. I loved the Book-Mobile as a kid. All those books on the rainbow bus? It was amazing.
We were not alone at the market by any means. We had to wait our turn to stand in the gazebo for photos. I’m not sorry we waited. So far my favourite photo of the trip was taken there.

I found these buddies at a nearby school. It looks like many people spent time painting these gingerbread-shaped people.

I spotted these two yesterday on my ride home. They sat like this for ages – both of them each had a little handheld device in their hands – most likely playing a game – with each other? Or just on their own? I couldn’t tell. But he had his arm around her so he could be close to her and so they could play with their toys at the same time. I found this completely adorable.
Luckily I had my long lens with me yesterday and casually took this photo without looking through the viewfinder in order not to disturb the subjects/let them know I was taking their photo. I just wanted to keep this moment exactly as I saw it. Happily I got it after 4 tries – I have nice selection of the tops of people’s heads and the railing of the bus to show for my perseverance as well.
The other photo I missed yesterday was the biggest brown bottle of beer I had ever seen roll out of a lady’s tote bag, bounce off the seat next to her and roll a little ways down the isle before she quickly picked it up and shoved it back in her bag. Somehow it didn’t break. And I was surprised by the person who owned the big bottle. She looked to be in her mid 20s and was dressed in full business wear – a blazer and skirt. Maybe it was a gift? You just never know. The bus is full of mysteries.
