After a delicious lunch of turkey sandwiches at a quaint and fussy little restaurant in Fort Langley, we embarked on our annual picking of the berries adventure. This time we went to Krause Berry Farms in Langley. This farm is very well maintained, and there’s pretty much a place for everything with everything is in its place. There is no question about where to enter, pay, eat, or pick berries – they have great signage on the farm. Today there were still some strawberries left to pick but we went straight to the raspberry bushes and got to work.

Are you ready for the big reveal of the triangle tube birthday gift? No, it was not a 50 pound Toblerone bar, but this is what Mike’s mom and dad sent me:

It’s a kitty kat karpet! As I was taking photos of the carpet, the kitties made an entrance. The whole family enjoys the new rug! I placed it in front of the sliding glass doors that open to the balcony. Also purchased today with some birthday money? A screen door for the balcony so we don’t have to worry about the kitties falling off the balcony unsupervised – the railings are too fragile for my liking. This is a great solution until the the balcony is repaired. Huzzah!
In other news, my unpleasant allergic reaction resulting in hives is slowly making its way out of my system. At this time the ones on my torso and legs are looking like they’re retreating. However, they have now shown up on the palms of my hands and under my finger nails. So crazy. I’m sure it was all the nice comments and birthday messages in my inbox today. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
We did go out for some delicious birthday dinner tonight. I enjoyed some steak and lobster with Mike and my mom and my sister. Here’s a very heavily edited photo (in an effort to hide my splotchy face).

Good thing we didn’t bother going to the trouble to make any signs. C@thy and Andrea created their own signs for us out of barf bags and some felt pens. I know! Genius! And I’ll scan them in so you can all see their hard work later. I luckily came across some princess sashes and some of the worst plastic flowers (I thought they were all bad. However, these ones are exceptionally bad.) I have ever come across for presentation to our lovely houseguests.
As you can see, Mike allowed me to take photos of him in said awful garb. He is a very good sport.
We are soon heading out to Burnaby Mountain and to Barnet Marine Park as the weather is beautiful. We spent the morning watching Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and Inglourious Basterds. Do we know how to entertain or what?
