Dr. Sun Yat Sen Gardens

We last saw the whole team making a quick get away from the violent potato gang…

Dave: Woohoo! Take that, you bully spuds!

Carol: Yah! See you later, taters!

Mike: Phew! that was close. Thank goodness for Oscar and Donner. I know we complain about their sharp nails, but I’ll never complain again.

Editor’s note: I am proud to let you know that No Potatoes Were Harmed® during the making of this Advent calendar.

In the foliage and around the lilypads

One great thing about having a year pass to Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden is that I can any old time I want to. I went this morning with my blog pal, Lelainia, and this time I even took a tour. The tour was informative, as I learned this was a scholar’s garden (I had no idea) and I learned who Dr. Sun Yat-Sen was. He lived quite the amazing life AND got to live in Hawaii in the late 1800′s. COOL.

In amongst the lilypads, we saw many creatures. Scratch that – Lelainia spotted many creatures. I was the lucky recipient of her excellent frog eye and turtle eye:

In the details

I got to take an early lunch today after a meeting with an employer – luckily located in Chinatown – and took a break at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden. I decided just to focus on the smaller details of the garden today. I brought my short, manual-focus lens and tried to concentrate on the smaller treasures in the garden. I’m obsessed! And possessed! I even made a tiny craft to take to my new blogging friend (and mixed media artist), Leilania, celebrating Chinese New Year. It was still wet when I gave it to her.

I’m not sure why, but lots of times I come up with something cool for an event, but at the last minute. At 8:30 this morning, I was painting away and digging through my stuff trying to get it done by 10:30. I think I need to start keeping track of my last minute ideas so I can get a head start for the NEXT year. *Note to self!*

I love this year’s CNY bunny stamps. They way they have the legs going from one stamp to the other – it’s like he (or she) is jumping from stamp to stamp – very clever.

Also, Leilania loves to sew on papers and make journals. I think I’ll follow her lead on that and give it a whirl.

I also edited a few more photos from yesterday…

*GONG!* Lunch time, kids!

September 22, 2010

I’ll make the marketing information easy for everyone. The day before yesterday, Groupon offered a discounted price for a year long membership to the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden. It was $17! Despite being Canadian, I made my purchase online. I keep hearing in my eMarketing course that Canadians don’t buy things online with the [...]
