The snow came back for a short time in the city today. However, out in Mission, they are ROLLING in it. It’s crazy out in that way. We got some snow for a few hours, but it was gone by the time the work day was over.

A frosty morning

I think it’s snowing in other parts of Canada, where they are getting some freezing weather and snow. We have 2 degrees above zero and frost in the yard this morning! Incredible! It’s totally winter around here now – with frozen bits and everything.

Look at all those tiny trees. I had the pleasure of attending the BC Bonsai Society Event this weekend in Langley. The members brought in all sorts of mini timbers for our viewing pleasure.

Iris’ garden tour

A visit to Iris’ place today proved fruitful in the spring flowers department! My mom emailed me to let me know it feels more like March today in Calgary as the temperature has risen to minus 2 degrees. Spring is definitely in the air. Here’s what I found in Iris’ garden.

Hellebores – the plants used in “flying ointment” for witches. They’re out in full bloom – right on schedule – in time for Lent.

We live in a temperate rain forest

Vancouver is well known for all the rain we get, but even for the locals, the last couple of weeks have been very, very, even extremely wet. It was so chilly tonight, I was tempted to turn the heat on in the house. But I refrained. Heat on in June? I just couldn’t do it.
