Stanley Park

Time to read the manual.

That didn’t go so well for a few reasons.

1) I put the lensbaby on my camera plus
2) the big boy flash
3) I parked in a pay parking lot at Stanley Park but,
4) didn’t pay, so I was looking around for the Vancouver city truck to tow me away.
5) the camera kept telling me to use a different lens but
6) once, I did get the flash to actually work! But
7) I couldn’t make it work again. Then
8) it dawned on me I should probably not be hanging out in the dark at Stanley Park and
9) I saw the Vancouver City truck so I had to beat him to my car, which
10) I had unknowingly parked in a handicapped zone. Hey. It was dark and
11) I couldn’t see that when I pulled in to the space.

I beat the City of Vancouver truck, so I was okay – no ticket or anything like that. I only got one photo that I had to really enhance to get the images of the totem poles to show up at all. I will be bringing the flash manual with me for some light reading so I can make it work in the manual setting on my camera. I was hoping to get photos that look more like this – bright up front, bokeh in the back. I’ll get to work on that and get back to you.

In other news, I’m going to have to start eating proper breakfast in the mornings. Someone recently pointed out to me that Sumo Wrestlers don’t eat breakfast, either. What? I’m eating the Sumo Wrestler diet? Since Sumo is NOT the look I’m going for, I’d better sort out some kind of breakfast routine STAT. Other ways I eat like a Sumo is – eating my biggest meal before bed, and eating sociable meals, if you count the TV is being sociable. Next thing you know, I’ll be taking naps after eating lunch. This can’t happen.

Hi! I’m back. I took yesterday off because, well, I was pooped. And we were out late last night taking photos of the Vectorial Light Display in English Bay. I had a great idea, and that was to take photos of the lights from the West Vancouver side. We drove over to Ambleside Beach and could not see the light display at all. That’s because Stanley Park was totally in the way. Good thing I’m not a geography major.

So, we went to Stanley Park to get some photos of those darn lights. The tide was far out last night. I also discovered a heron walking in my photos once I got home. Here’s what this light installation looked like from 10:22 to 10:38 pm on the Sea Wall right near the Second Beach Pool.

Would you like to see a few more shots? Great. Because I have some for you right here.
