Here are a few more faces from downtown today. These are in addition to the Slovak Men’s Hockey Team – just in case you missed them.
First of all, in two different spots there were 3 “Free Hugs” guys. I didn’t hug any of them. I know. I was snobbing off the free hugs guys.

Question #1: What does this sign mean in Canada?

Answer #1:
Dear visitor from a far away land,
Welcome to Canada! We are glad you are here. When you see this sign in Canada, it means you can find the way to:
- The restroom
- The bathroom
- The loo
- The W/C or Water Closet
- The potty
- El baño

The washroom is what we call the bathroom in Canada. Some people think it’s funny to call the bathroom the washroom, because there’s not much washing going on in there – other than hands (hopefully). Today I had a big dilemma. Should I go to the Canadian Pavilion on Hastings Street to see how Canada mines it’s diamonds OR do I go to the Olympic Athlete’s Village to see if I could get a shot of the Boxing Kangaroo flag? Last night on the news we heard that Team Australia had put up a huge Boxing Kangaroo flag instead of the country’s official flag and the International Olympic Committee had asked them to take it down. I HAD to get down there to see if they had complied. Had they?

No way! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi! Hellz no! The flag was still proudly displayed – two stories tall of punchy kangaroo at 1:30 this afternoon. Here’s a zoomy shot below:

This afternoon I had a meeting with an employer who’s location is very near the ScienceWorld Skytrain Station. This very Skytrain station happens to be right across the water from The Village for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games. There’s a walkway that leads from ScienceWorld and takes you all the way along the water to Yaletown. I took a right before GM Place (it won’t be called that much longer. It’s official name during The Games will be Canada Hockey Place) and walked up to Chinatown. But, back on the walkway, there are tents set up and and it looks as though ScienceWorld is being rented out for a Russian display area of sorts. The whole area along the walkway is filling up with huge tents for displays for Ontario and Saskatchewan. And right along the water are all sorts of Inukshuks. I’ll go back with better footwear – my clogs were not really good for climbing around the rocky patches with a camera.
