I was thinking about last week’s Sledge Hockey game and how at the end of the game, both teams took off their helmets and waved to the crowd. The Italian team had a casual crowd waving style. And then the Norwegians lined up in a row and raised their sticks to us.

Time for the Teams from all over the world to arrive at the stadium. Just when I thought, “Oh man. Can we sit down now?” I realized, “Wait a sec, these guys came a really long way to come to these games, I’d better make sure they feel welcomed!” More pompom shaking ensued.
Also, if you’ve ever had to travel in a plane in a wheelchair, it’s a big deal. Those isles are tiny and they have a special tiny wheelchair they use to get the person to his/her seat. So when you think about the people who came from far away places in Europe, Asia or the Middle East, and who those had to transfer from plane to plane, it takes extra time.
The DJs started announcing the names of the countries and the athletes started arriving. Here are only a few of the countries who participated – in alphabetical order:

I’m getting caught up. After the doggy post yesterday, I had to to go to bed. Here’s a couple more photos from yesterday.

Yesterday morning at 8:40-ish, the news van was outside our building doing a piece on the Mint Pavilion. At that time, the estimated wait to see the medals was 7 hours. And my boss thought I was weird to take the morning off to stand in the line for 2 hours across the street from my office building last week.

Mike and I headed to downtown this afternoon for a little shopping adventure. We are on a mission to find an official Winter Games mug to send to a friend in Nova Scotia. We also wanted to see the W2 Social Media Centre to see where the cool kids hang out.
God only knows why, but Mike thought we should go to The Bay to find the mug. The Bay with the huge line up. ZOINKS. However, we were pleasantly surprised when the line up was only 1/2 a block long. So we stood in the line and in about 20 minutes, we were inside the building along with a billion other people, looking high and low for a mug. No luck. Oh well. However if you’re looking for a Quatchi, they’ve got them on sale right now.
I still have a few ideas left as to where to find the mug.
The main areas for human traffic is all along Granville Street up to Robson. There are p0lice at every open street directing traffic so no one wanders out into where the cars are driving.
Here’s what Granville looked like this afternoon:
