Action shots – Episode 3

Welcome back to last weekend’s Canucks open practice. This post will highlight a few action shots. The photo above is the Canucks’ mascot – Fin. He’s an Orca. He ran right past us down to the ice – lucky for me!

Good news! I have more photos of the Canucks. I didn’t want to leave you with the impression that the only photos I took were of the guys laying down on the ice and then drinking water. I’m also proud to tell you I did find some photos of team players other than Henrik and Roberto. Turns out I was heavily focused on those two – not exactly fair to the rest of the team. I’ll be more aware of this for next time.

Would you like to see Rick Rypien and others? Check it out after the jump…

This is Rick Rypien – from Coalman, Alberta. You know who else is from Coalman? My Dad and Aunt Holly. I know! We’re practically related.

Next up, I’m not sure who this is, but I like this photo because it looks like flames are coming out of his, well, bum.

It’s just the BC Ferries sign behind him, but still. It matches his pants and everything.

Here’s a shot that Mike took with my camera. His Space Phone wasn’t really cutting it at our distance, so I handed him my camera for a bit. He got this one of the goal going right in past Luongo. You can see the puck mid-air.

I like this next capture of the action – his leg is all bent up funny, but if this was America’s Next Top Model, it would be considered “high fashion posing” – I should check with Tyra on that, actually.

I think this was Edler shooting. And this is the new back up goalie – Andrew Raycroft. He’s great, but he’s got no theme song. We used to hum/whistle the Sanford and Son theme song whenever Curtis Sanford filled in for Luongo. But not anymore. I don’t believe there’s a sitcom jingle with a Raycroft in it.

I also like this photo because at the time Edler was shooting, Bieksa was “commentating” on the microphone and all he said was, “What was THAT?” Heh. Team sports. They kill me.

Hey! My mom was born in Coleman. My grandad was the doctor there. Small world.
